Freshmen visit recreation
by   |  July 21, 2006  |

More than 500 Camp Crimson campers took the Huston Huffman Center by storm Thursday night.

Night at the Huff is an activity planned by Camp Crimson's recreations department.

Campers had a chance to test most of the amenities the facility offers, such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, racquetball, the cardio room, an aerobics class and dodgeball.

Recreational Services Director Amy Davenport said this event is one of the best ways to build a healthy community on campus.

"It is just a great opportunity for them to see where they can come and relieve stress, have a good time, meet some new people and kind of hang out here," Davenport said.

Cherrie Warden, University College freshman, is an experienced rock climber. "The rock climbing wall is the best," she said.

Besides climbing the rock wall, campers ran around the center and tried to enjoy every activity provided.

Justin Goss, University College freshman, said, "I've played ping-pong, I went and played dodgeball, played volleyball over on the other side."

In addition to the athletic part of this event, campers also enjoyed healthy snacks such as health bars, fresh fruit, smoothies and of course, water.
