Suspect of armed robberies arrested
by   |  February 21, 2006  |

Moore police arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a string of armed robberies in Norman and Moore.

Deangelo Marquis Finnie was arrested Sunday night after Moore police spotted a vehicle that matched the description of a car used in the robberies, according to a press release.

Finnie is considered a suspect in six Norman robberies, two of which involved OU students.

After interviewing Finnie, Moore police contacted another woman as a person of interest in the investigation, the release states.

Finnie is being held in the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of armed robbery for the Moore incidents. Norman police will confer with prosecutors this week regarding additional charges for the Norman incidents, according to the release.

Six armed robberies have occurred in Norman since Feb. 10. The robber targeted pizza delivery drivers and people exiting their cars in apartment parking lots. Victims said the robber left the scene in a car driven by a woman.

OU students were robbed at Sterling University Greens and The Edge apartment complexes last Wednesday, according to police reports.

A pizza delivery driver was attacked on South Berry Road on Friday. Two robberies occurred Feb. 10 on the west side of Norman between Main and Lindsey streets at Peppertree Patio Homes and Creekside Apartments. One victim was robbed on Tuesday near Whittier Middle School, police reports state.

Lindsey Ray, zoology sophomore, said a man approached her with a gun as she exited her car last Friday. The man led her at gunpoint up the stairs to her apartment.

She slammed the door on the robber and locked herself inside the apartment. The robber was only able to take Ray's cell phone.

Ray said police found her broken cell phone in Moore and took fingerprints from it for comparison.

"That's all I want is for this guy to get caught," Ray said.

Finnie is not an OU student.
