Ludvigson announces fall golf competition
by   |  August 31, 2006  |

The OU womens golf team has scheduled five tournaments for the fall portion of the 2006-2007 season, OU womens golf head coach Carol Ludvigson announced in a press release Thursday.

First up on the tourney trail for the youth laden Sooners is the Badger Invitational Sept. 10-11 at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis.

The fall season will run through late October.

"We are excited to get started," Ludvigson said. "We will be able to see a lot of teams in our region. Head-to-head competition will be good for us. Our team is ready to get going."

The Sooners will rely on a pair of juniors, Heather Wright and Kelly Jacques, and sophomore Kendall Dye, who recorded a top-10 finish at the Big 12 Tournament last season to lead the team as a trio of newcomers settle into the higher pressure atmosphere of collegiate tournaments.

The team will be looking to Kelly Jacques, Kendall Dye and Heather Wright to lead the way, Ludvigson said. They have been consistent and have really been playing well.

The three freshmen are Joyce Trus of Mexico City, Chelsey Collins of Louisville, Colo., and Andrea Sellmeyer of McAlester, Okla.

Collins was named to the Denver Post All-State First Team and Rocky Mountain News All-Colorado First Team in 2005 and 2006.

Sellmeyer recorded 30 top-10 finishes in high school, including eight victories. She was selected to the All-State golf team in 2006.

Trus was selected to the Mexican National Womens Golf Team, which consists of Mexicos 12 best amateur female golfers that compete in international tournaments.
