Natural gas link found on campus

At 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, the Norman Fire Department responded to a natural gas leak related to a natural gas line break at the corner of Boyd Street and Asp Avenue.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a significant leak resulting from a cut apparently caused by a contractor boring in the area.

About 150 people were evacuated from Carson Engineering Center because of the strong odor of natural gas in the building while fire fighters monitored the gas levels.

The employees and students were allowed back into the building after about 45 minutes.

The Oklahoma Natural Gas Company shut downt eh natural gass line while repairs were being made.
