The OU men's basketball team completed its exhibition schedule with a 118-62 win over UNC-Pembroke Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners play their first regular season game Nov. 19 against Samford. Head coach Kelvin Sampson said he was pleased with the opportunities the team's two exhibition games provided.
"Sometimes the other team can teach you," Sampson said. "I was very impressed with the way (Pembroke) played."
The Sooners platooned their first and second teams throughout the game. A new set of five Sooners substituted in every four minutes. In the first half, the first and second teams both played 10 minutes and had 27 points. OU led Pembroke 54-27 at halftime.
OU had a significant height advantage against Pembroke and it showed on the boards. The Sooners out-rebounded the Braves 57-16. Longar Longar led the Sooners with 13 rebounds.
Seven Sooners scored in double-digits. They were led by Michael Neal with 21 points. Neal was four-for-eight from behind the three point line. He missed all eight three-point attempts in the team's first exhibition game.
