The double "O" club, campus service group, is opening the sale of 120 sets of 8 glass tumblers adorned with the picture of a Big Red football player and autographed with the signatures of all OU players in the 1954 Orange Bowl game. The sets are for sale at $3.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to help build a concrete ramp on the ground floor of the main library leading the elevator, said Jack Locke, Ardmore, club president. The ramp will enable wheelchair students to use the upper floors of the library. Lowest estimate on the ramp cost is $750, Locke said Wednesday.
The tumblers may be bought through Double "O" club members, who will have order blanks in various campus buildings and dormitories. Booths at the two remaining home football games for sale of the decorated glasses are planned, Locke said. On Dads' day, a booth will be located in Holmberg hall.
Other projects of the club include a set of Braille maps of the OU campus as gifts to blind students. The club annually give a party at Christmas at the state party at Christmas at the state Cerebral Palsy institute east of Norman.
