The doses will be given out from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the health department's Norman clinic, 250 12th Avenue NE, said Shari Kinney, administrative director for the Cleveland County Health Department.
"We're glad that we are now able to provide the vaccines for 750 more people," Kinney said.
She said 500 of the doses are for adults and 250 are for children 18 and under.
Kinney said the doses will likely run out before 1 p.m., and she doesn't anticipate receiving any more of the vaccine.
"Unfortunately, it will probably not be enough for everyone, but at least we can help," Kinney said. "As far as I know, I'm not getting any more, but I thought that last time, and then we received these doses."
Kimberly Wetzler, health educator at Goddard Health Center, said Goddard received no additional vaccine and has probably received all of the vaccine it will get. She said she still wants students to be aware of how to get vaccinated, and Goddard will direct students on where to go to receive the vaccinations.
The additional vaccine is available because the Oklahoma State Department of Health received 10,000 doses of "late-season" vaccine from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Don Blose, chief of the OSDH Immunization service.
Blose said the health department requested the additional vaccine over a month ago in order to have additional supplies available.
The health department was informed last week that it would be receiving the extra vaccine, and Blose said the vaccine has been given to all of the county health departments in the state.
"It's nice that we have it," Blose said. "It will give people an extra opportunity to receive vaccinations."
Blose warned that the vaccine will go very quickly and that people should be aware of the possibility it may not be available for everyone.
"Everybody should call ahead and make sure they have it ready," Blose said.
Several OU students said they were glad to have another opportunity to receive a flu shot.
"I want to remain in good health," said Kayron Hicks, University College freshman.
Hicks said it is important for students to have access to vaccines because of the weather endured on campus.
"It's easy for us to get sick because we have to walk to classes in the cold," Hicks said.
