The OU Health Sciences Center will join the Norman campus Friday
in an effort to provide prospective students with insight into the
HSC.
Campus Connection is a free event that will offer possible HSC
students currently enrolled at the Norman campus general
information about the HSC from an educational and a personal
perspective.
“OU is such a great university overall, but students on
the Norman campus don’t really get to see the other
campuses,” said Alison Mainers, HSC union programming
graduate assistant. “We are trying to get OU-Norman students
to our campus to get to know our staff and our
facilities.”
The day will begin with buses leaving Lloyd Noble Center at 11
a.m. for the HSC, where a general information meeting will be held.
Following the meeting will be lunch and a housing tour. After the
tour, each visitor will meet with professors and students in his or
her individual field of study.
Kate Stanton, HSC employee, said receiving the opportunity to
engage with the HSC campus community will offer the prospective
students a chance to experience the daily life, hear the “ins
and outs” and receive contact information.
Mainers said she is looking forward to meeting the prospective
students.
“We have a very tight community here, and I am excited to
meet hopefully future students that might some day become part of
our family,” Mainers said.
Sheri Edwards, pre-physical therapy and health exercise science
junior, is anticipating her visit to HSC as she plans to apply to
the physical therapy school in January.
“I’m excited because I might get to meet faculty and
staff there that might give me some connections for when I am
applying,” Edwards said.
Stanton encourages students to attend Campus Connection because
if they choose to apply to the HSC, it will make the entire process
easier.
Kelsey Arbogast, University College freshman, said she expects
to receive a lot of information about the campus.
“It will be nice to know ahead of time the basic
information about what the HSC is mainly,” Arbogast said.
The event will end when buses return to Lloyd Noble Center at
about 3:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending can contact Jay
Corwin at 325-3467.
