All are guilty of sin, not just members of the OU community
To the Editor:
I agree with Andrew LeGrand when he says, "...realistically, people are just trying to make a profit in some way, shape or form."
However, I do not think that the OU administrators are the only people who play angles.
It is quite evident that we all are bent with respect to the universal moral code (a.k.a. the Golden Rule), so it is not surprising in the least that the university would try to take advantage of its position.
Some might say, "All people have at least some good in them. I, for one, don't take advantage of people."
But we are all guilty. We have all lied, stolen and cheated at some time in our lives.
For many of us, we have done those things recently, although we might try to rationalize them away with clever arguments.
About this matter, the Bible says, "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one" (Romans 3:11-12).
The Bible also says that this sickness of our human nature leads to death (Romans 6:23), not physical death (since everyone dies), but eternal separation from God.
Who will be saved if we are all condemned to hell?
Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners" (Mark 2:17).
Jesus died in our place so that we would not go to hell (the just consequence of our sin), but would have eternal life by faith in Him.
