I have a big problem because the guy I am in love with goes to college far away. There are guys here at OU who want to date me but I can't get this other guy out of my head. I'm not sure how far-away boy feels about me. Should I forget him or what? HELP!

I speak to you from personal experience. Being in love with someone who is far away is tough, especially when you dont know how they feel. Have far-away boy and you ever had a relationship? If so, ask yourself what caused the relationship to end. If not, did you ever tell him how you feel? Was his response negative? Positive? Is he dating other girls? What is it about this particular guy that you cant find in any other ones?? I know this might be a bit of a stretch, but honestly ask yourself: do you have a deep fear of commitment? Sometimes pining away for someone you cant be with is a sign of that.



My advice to you is try dating guys here at OU. These are your college years and you should take full advantage of them. Dating helps you eliminate characteristics you dont want in a marriage and you wont really know what you want until you try all kinds of people. I wouldnt suggest forgetting far-away boy necessarily, but I do think you should put him on the back burner- the far, far back burner. Dont worry. If you and he are truly meant to be together, itll all work out in the end. In the meantime- just have fun and see what else is out there! Good luck with the man-hunting!

I need gift giving advice! My best guy friend is turning 22 and I have absolutely no clue what to get him! What do college guys want? If I buy something it needs to be inexpensive, because I am a poor college student. I'm not opposed to making something, but I am at a loss for crafting ideas. Please help me!

There are many ways you could go about this gift-giving dilemma. Since this particular boy is your best friend, and not just any old college guy, you might want to give him something that focuses on your relationship. Every pair of best friends have an inside joke of some kind. I try to buy my guy friends things that go along that line. For example, if you all always make fun of McDonalds, buy him something that is McDonald related, just as a joke. Gag gifts are always great for guys, because the gifts amuse them.


If you would rather go along the sentimental line, you could make something simple, yet meaningful. For instance (I stole this idea from a friend!) on Valentines Day I gave my best guy friend a heart shaped box with one hundred reasons I thought he was amazing. Some of them were really funny, and others were very serious.



Perhaps your friend has a hobby? Say he is a Sooner fantry buying him something along those lines. If all else fails, alcohol and porn are always good choices for college men. Good luck with the gift giving!

likes me. We hang out all the time and she is really nice, but I don't know

First off, I would suggest that you talk to her. Ask her about her love life. Is she seeing anyone? Is she happy with them? Does she ask you about your girlfriends? Does she ever come to you for advice on other guys? If your relationship lacks discussions about romance, you have a mutual attraction to each other, and, unfortunately, both of you are to shy to bring it up.



If talking to the girl about romance scares you, youre in luck my friend! Youve come to an expert on body language. Your body and the way it is positioned tell things you would never imagine. If you can learn how to read it, you will be set for life. The easiest test you can try is the next time the two of you are sitting at a table, face to face, casually reach up and scratch your face. If she mirrors you and scratches the same spot, she is attracted to you. If you watch yourself, youll find that you are mirroring all of her actions as well. Even though you are now aware of it, you will not be able to prevent yourself from doing it.



Pre-dating sucks. Just be gutsy and aggressive and fight for the woman you care for! Good luck!

What's up girl? I'm just chillin' at the frat house. So, first off, congrats on the new column. It'll be a pleasure to read your stuff- you're a great writer. So- I do need some advice...I'm a pretty cool guy, very confident and outgoing and all, but I never feel like I'm cool enough for the girl I like... she's beautiful...and kind...and a great writer with her own advice column. I would suggest talking to her. Does she know your name? Have you attempted to introduce yourself? Confidence is important in any relationship, so its good that you seem to have that. Girls like to be treated well. Really listen to her and see what shes all about. What are her favorite movies and activities? Find out what her favorite restaurant is and offer to take her there. Above all else, you need to make the first move because she might find you attractive and also be too shy to talk to you. You never know.
