OU's Price named a finalist for Naismith hoops award

OU senior guard Hollis Price was named one of the top 20 finalists for the Naismith College Basketball Player of the Year Award on Tuesday.
Jackie Bradford, president of the Atlanta Tipoff Club, announced the 20 collegiate men and women finalists.
The Naismith Board of Selectors, which includes some the country's leading basketball coaches, journalists and administrators, began the selection process earlier this year and have reduced the number of finalist by balloting to the twenty top male and female players they felt most deserving of the award.
The winners of the Naismith Awards will be honored April 11 in Atlanta.
Drug contributes to death of Orioles pitcher, Bechler
A weight-loss drug probably contributed to the heatstroke death of Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Steve Bechler, a medical examiner said Tuesday.
Bechler had been taking Xenadrine, an over-the-counter drug containing ephedra, which has been linked to heatstroke and heart trouble, Dr. Joshua Perper said.
Bechler died Monday, less than 24 hours after a spring training workout sent his temperature to 108.
Ephedra has been banned by the NCAA, the NFL and the International Olympic Committee, but not by major league baseball. Perper urged baseball to ban the drug.
Mike Tyson cancels boxing match because of illnesses

Mike Tyson's boxing future is uncertain, but it certainly won't begin Saturday. His scheduled bout against Clifford Etienne in Memphis was called off after a week in which he complained of a bad back and flu symptoms, trained little but found time to get a facial tattoo.
The 36-year-old former heavyweight champion issued a statement apologizing to fans.
