On July 30, the OU Financial Aid offices moved to Buchanan Hall from Robertson Hall.
"The move will bring all students services together to Buchanan Hall," said Brad Burnett, Financial Aid Services director.
Student services include the offices of admissions, financial aid, the bursar, academic records and registration.
The Financial Aid offices are trading places with the Graduate College offices.
"The Graduate College wants to help to the student population," said Deborah Marsh, who is the assistant to the vice president for Research Services. "There are a larger volume of students who go through Buchanan Hall each day."
Burnett said he has been wanting the move for a year.
The Financial Aid offices have known about the move since June, said Judy Voeller, assistant director of Client Services.
"There are three phases planned in the financial aid move," said Matt Hamilton, associate vice president of Enrollment and Student Financial Services.
Voeller said she did the planning for the phase one move on July 30. In phase one, people will move to the new offices, computer equipment will be moved, telephones will be moved and the electrical system will be moved, Voeller said.
The Financial Aid offices were not open on the day of the move, Voeller said.
Phase two will take place Oct. 1 and phase three will take place on Oct. 15, Burnett said.
Phase two includes moving the operations systems, and phase three includes moving the hardware systems to the new offices, Burnett said.
He said the systems will be run by Financial Aid workers who will stay in the old offices until the move is complete.
The complete move cannot take place together because of the construction going on at OU, Burnett said.
The only problem with the move is students will have to learn where the offices have moved to, Marsh said.
