The No. 4 OU softball team suffered a sweep at the hands of the No. 5 Texas Longhorns in Austin this weekend.
The Sooners (32-8, 8-5 Big 12) kept it close in Sunday's finale game, falling to Texas (32-7, 9-2) by the score of 2-1. Oklahoma managed only one hit against Texas starter Amy Bradford who pitched all seven innings, giving up one earned run in the fifth. OU's lone hit came from senior third baseman Leah Gulla, who also drew a walk and went 1-for-2 in the game.
The Longhorns managed six hits against Sooners' starter Kami Keiter and were led by center fielder Tina Boutelle, who went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Texas first baseman Alexis Garcia went 2-for-3 with the game's only RBI.
OU will next take on Oklahoma City University at the OU Softball Complex at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
OU drops 6th straight loss on Sunday in Austin, Texas
The OU baseball team is again mired in a losing streak after the Sooners dropped three straight games at Texas this weekend.
The Sooners (13-19, 1-11 Big 12) looked like they could pull out a victory in Sunday's series finale. OU tied the game at 4-4 in the eight inning and the game went to extra frames.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, OU saw victory taken away as Texas shortstop Omar Quintanilla doubled in left fielder Eric Sultemeier for the game winning run off of OU sophomore reliever Jarod McAuliff.
OU senior center fielder Reggie Willits had another good game, going two for five. Sophomore first baseman Matt Bose was three for five with two RBI and a run scored.
The Sooners have now lost six in a row and will host Air Force at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday.
