With mosh pit crowds and mid-song stops to tune guitars, three bands epitomized a pop-punk club concert at Oklahoma City music venue, The Green Door, Saturday night.
Local band, The Stellas, performed to a large student crowd at the after-game show, with other touring bands Emaneht and The All-American Rejects also performing.
The Stellas opened the show at 10 p.m. and proceeded into a diverse set featuring songs similar to the Warped Tour or Lillith Fair.
Standout songs by the local band were a cover of "Just What I Needed" and "The Bulletproof Anthem," a self-proclaimed try at a 1980's power ballad that turned into something different.
The pounding introduction to "The Bulletproof Anthem" highlighted the band's drumming that bound the entire show together.
Raechel, lead singer for The Stellas, played a song without the rest of the band, making the audience aware of a high-quality voice that is often overshadowed by the pounding guitars, drums and keyboard on the band's other songs.
The Stellas' performance made it apparent that any fan of pop-punk would enjoy the show.
Emaneht and The All-American Rejects performed after The Stellas to an already excited crowd.
Emaneht's music was a mixture of Blink-182 with Gwen Stefani, singing both visually and musically.
Their music will be featured on MTV's upcoming season of Real World Las Vegas and Road Rules 11. Rolling Stone magazine selected the band as an emerging artist" for their 2002 Rock Band Search.
The All-American Rejects, from Stillwater are performing at Edgefest Sept. 14 in Tulsa and plan to release their new album Oct. 15.
The group's music has also been featured on MTV's show Undressed.
"The Stellas are a really great up and coming band," said Brandon Corban, University College freshman. "It was great to be able to see the Sooners win Saturday and then go see one of my favorite bands."
