LAWTON -- The OU $1 billion 2003 budget will be voted on by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education on Wednesday, June 27 in Oklahoma City.
The Norman campus will receive $506 million and the Health Sciences Center will receive $586 million if State Regents approve the budget.
The OU Board of Regents approved the budget on June 19 at Cameron University.
OU President David L. Boren said it was challenging determining the budget because of cuts in May and June that resulted in a 4 percent cut of the 2002 fiscal year budget.
Boren also announced that OU is on pace to have another record-setting year in private fund-raising, bringing the streak to eight.
OU has received $85 million in gifts as of May 31. Last year, OU had $84 million in May.
David Maloney, vice president for University Development, said he expects to break last year's record of $86.9 million when fiscal year 2002 ends June 30.
Boren said despite the budget cuts, money from fund raisers cannot be used for OU's operating budget because they were designated to certain projects.
Fund raising has increased from $26 million in 1994 to $86.9 in 2001.
OU also received the 2002 Circle of Excellence in Educational Fund Raising Award, awarded to private and public research and doctoral institutions.
Harvard University, the University of Notre Dame and Stanford University were given awards for private schools. Ohio State University, the University of Virginia and the University of Wisconsin-Madison were the other public schools awarded.
