Teacher corps benefits both schools and members

Wendy Kopp first developed the idea for Teach for America, a teacher corps created to battle the disadvantages faced by students in low-income communities, in her senior thesis at Princeton University in 1989.

The program has placed 7,000 corps members in teaching positions in 16 urban and rural areas around the United States.
