Inking the future
by   |  February 6, 2002  |

OU head football coach Bob Stoops knew before national signing day that he would have one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.

With oral commitments from many of the top players in the nation, all Stoops needed was the actual signing on the dotted line.

On Tuesday, Stoops got what he needed as he ushered in another recruiting class he hopes can help lead the Sooners in the future.

Not many surprises were seen during the day.

However, defensive back Aaron Miller from Fresno, Calif, originally committed to Southern California, but yesterday OUinsider.com reported he had orally committed as a Sooner.
Miller signed with the Sooners.

He is expected to be an impact player for the Sooners when he hits campus.

Miller is regarded as the 64th-best player in the nation by CNNSI.com and is rated as the 76th-best player in the nation by Rivals.com

Another key signee for the Sooners is Winsor, N.C., wide receiver Jejuan Rankins.

Rivals.com ranked Rankins as the 10th-best wide receiver in the nation coming out of high school while ESPN.com named him the top high school athlete in the nation.

In his senior season at Bertie High School, Ranking moved from his natural position of wide receiver to quarterback.
He contributed on special teams, as well, with five touchdowns on punt returns his junior season.
