Price undergoes successful surgery on triceps

Sophomore guard Hollis Price underwent successful surgery torepair a severed tendon in his right tricep that he suffered in OU's 70-68 loss to Indiana State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

This marks the third surgery since Price collided with Indiana State's Kelyn Block during the March 16 game. The surgery was required to prevent further infection in the arm and to remove pieces of Block's teeth from the injured area.

Price is expected to make a full recovery following six weeks of rehabilitation.


Women's gymnastics team advances to NCAA Regional

The No. 19 OU women's gymnastics team advanced to the NCAA South Regional in Lincoln, Neb., Saturday, April 7. The Sooners finished third in last Saturday's Big 12 Championships, but advanced to a regional for the fourth-straight year.

OU will face five nationally ranked teams in the regional, including host school Nebraska, as well as Penn Sate, Washington, Arizona and Illinois State.

OU baseball game canceled

OU's Wednesday night game with Oral Roberts University was canceled due to bad weather.

The Sooners will play a three-game series at L. Dale Mitchell park against Nebraska starting Friday.


Two OU basketball players headed to Final Four

OU basketball senior players Nolan Johnson and Kelley Newton will attend the men's Final Four in Minneapolis to participate in annual Final Four festivities.

Johnson led OU with a 13.2 points per game scoring average in his senior season and will play in the NABC Roundball Challenge.

Johnson will be one of 12 college all-stars that will play the Harlem Globetrotters inside the Target Center Friday.

Newton will participate in the NABC three-point shooting contest before the Roundball Challenge Friday night.

Newton shot 43.4 percent from three-point range during the season, and is OU's all-time leader in career three-point percentage at 42.9 percent.

Both events will be aired on a tape-delayed basis on ESPN.

Johnson and Newton helped the OU men's basketball team to a 26-7 record and a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated by Indiana State in the first round.


OU's Johnson to attend NBA pre-draft camps

Senior Nolan Johnson received an invitation to participate in two NBA pre-draft camps used to evaluate potential NBA prospects.

Johnson will participate in the Portsmouth Invitational April 4-7 in Portsmouth, Va., and the Nike Desert Classic May 1-5 on the campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

Only 40 potential NBA draft picks are invited to participate in the Nike Desert Classic each year.


OU men's gymnastics team among field for championship

No. 1 OU is one of 12 teams teams that have qualified for the NCAA men's gymnastics championships.

The NCAA announced the field Tuesday. The championships will be held in Columbus, Ohio, April 5-7.

There will be two qualifying sessions April 5. OU is a part of qualifying session I, which includes No. 4 Illinois, No. 5 California, No. 8 Penn State, No. 10 Massachusetts, and No. 11 Temple.

The top three teams will advance to the finals.

The other qualifying session is also made of six teams, including the host school for the championships, No. 2 Ohio State.


OU changes time for first spring football scrimmage

OU's first spring football scrimmage, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, has been moved to 1:30 p.m., OU football head coach Bob Stoops said Wednesday.

The move was made to accommodate the Arts Classic Run, which will be held earlier in the day and is scheduled to finish inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where the scrimmage will take place.


OU moves Bedlam tennis match to 2 p.m. today

The women's tennis match between OU and Oklahoma State which was originally scheduled for Wednesday has been moved to today because ofinclement weather.

OU is 4-6 on the season, 0-4 in conference play. OSU is 12-3 overall and won last year's Bedlam match 6-3 in Norman.


Men's golf team finishes third at tournament in Austin

The final round of the Cleveland Golf/Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas, was cancelled because ofbad weather, leaving No. 19 OU with a third place finish.

OU junior Cody Freeman led the Sooners by finishing in a tie for fifth place individually.

Georgia Tech won the 15-team tournament, with Oklahoma State finishing second.
