An OU student has been arrested in connection with several cases of vandalism around the OU campus.
He was taken into custody Wednesday night and arraigned Thursday.
Three counts of second-degree burglary, one count of falsely reporting a crime, one count of leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of maliciously injuring property were filed against Benjamin P. Bulson, 21.
Police say a false report led to Bulson's arrest. A stolen car report helped police link him to the crimes, said Lt. Jeff Harp, OU Department of Public Safety spokesman.
Bulson is currently being held at the Cleveland County Jail on $35,000 bond and will appear at a preliminary hearing July 6.
Jacobs Track and the Oklahoma Memorial Union were damaged as well. Rails and speakers were kicked off the top of the Jacobs Track announcement booth, a trash barrel was used to break out a window in the Memorial Stadium Sky Suites and cabinet doors were broken in the suites, according to police reports.
"We're still trying to get estimates together, but I doubt it will exceed $2,000. There's not a lot of damage, just miscellaneous items that will have to be replaced. Luckily it was minor and there was nothing of value stolen," said John McClees, sports information spokesman.
The cabinets in suites 200 and 300 were gone through and approximately 12 cans of beer and six cans of soda were taken from the refrigerator.
Police say that after committing the crime, the suspect fled in his car down Asp Avenue, lost control and wrecked into a fence.
The car would not move from the wreck site, so the suspect abandoned the vehicle and filed a stolen car report the next day, the police report said.
"The man's stolen car report really helped us track him down and link him with the crimes," Harp said.
Police said alcohol played a part in the events.
