Norman jury finds man competent to face trial

NORMAN -- A preliminary hearing has been set for March 10 for David Ray Alexander Jr., after a Cleveland County District Court jury found him competent Wednesday to stand trial in the deaths of his mother and half-sister. Alexander is accused of first-degree murder in the June 1997 deaths of Jeanne Louise Boone, 37, and Keeley Nichole Boone, 12. Jeanne Boone was struck several times with an ax and her daughter was stabbed with a butcher knife. Alexander spent several months at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita while officials determined whether he could understand the charges against him.

City employees find skull in field near Owasso

OWASSO -- City employees working in an area west of Owasso found a human skull, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Department said Thursday. The skull and other remains found by investigators were taken to the state medical examiner's office to try to determine a cause of death.

Prosecutors drop charges against rape suspects

TISHOMINGO -- Prosecutors have dismissed second-degree rape charges against five men accused of the gang-rape of an unconscious Murray State College cheerleader at a party last fall. The charges were dropped after the woman refused to undergo at least one, and possibly multiple, trials.
