Commission to honor women at annual dinner

The Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women will honor eight new inductees.

Isabel Baker, Jessie Thatcher Bost, Norma Eagleton, Kay Goegel, Ruth Hardman, Beverly Horse, Mazola McKerson and Penny Williams will be inducted at the annual Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fame Induction Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa.

Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage, Lloyd Benson, speaker of the House of Representatives, and Oklahoma State President James Halligan will present the honor to the new inductees.

Former CIA director to speak in Oklahoma

James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, will speak at a one-day seminar on "American Intelligence After the Cold War."

Woolsey served as CIA director from 1993 to 1995. He is currently a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm of Shea Gardner.

The seminar will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Sept. 13 at Phillips University in Enid. Cost is $35 for the public and $10 for students. Call the OSLEP office at 325-4309 for more information.

Symposium to feature prominent surgeons

The G. Rainey Williams Surgical Symposium will focus on current concepts in the surgical management of trauma and vascular diseases.

The OU Department of Surgery, OU College of Medicine and the OU Office of Continuing Medical Education are sponsoring the symposium that will feature prominent surgeons from across the country and the OU Health Sciences Center.

The symposium will be held Sept.11 through 13 at the Oklahoma City Waterford Marriott Hotel, 6300 Waterford Blvd., and the Health Science Center. Registration is $375. For more information call 271-5781.
