Road work claims part of Lindsey Street
by   |  January 11, 1996  |

Students returning to campus may run into minor road work at the intersection of Lindsey Street and Berry Road.

Todd Jenson, assistant to the Norman city manager, said workers are repairing a rotten sewer line which caused the collapse of asphalt.

The maintenance should cost about $2,500.

Jenson said workers are currently repairing the sewer line and will start work on the pavement by Friday.

The eastbound lane of Lindsey Street will be closed until late next week.

Construction on Robinson Street from Fay Avenue to 12th Avenue Northeast continues as workers widen the street to four lanes.

Drivers may also experience delays at the Porter Avenue intersection, which is a four-way stop.

Jenson said the completion of the $8 million street-widening project, which has already been completed at the intersection of Lindsey and Jenkins Avenue, is on schedule, and the four lanes should open in the fall.

Two other major road construction projects should begin in March, Jenson said.

Both Lindsey and Alameda streets will be widened between Classen Boulevard and 12th Avenue Southeast.

The intersection of Robinson Street and 36th Avenue Northwest will undergo construction in April or May.
