The Graduate Student Senate established three outstanding graduate student performance awards Sunday night for teaching and research assistants.
A student or a supervising professor can nominate a graduate teaching assistant, or a research supervisor can nominate a graduate research assistant by submitting a short essay. The essay should include graduate's teaching or research achievements, the degree the graduate assistant has gone beyond performance expectations and the impact the graduate has had on students' learning experience.
The GSS academic affairs committee will review the submitted nominations and select the top three recipients. The awards will be given at the Annual UOSA Awards Banquet in the spring.
Nomination forms should be available by the next GSS meeting.
GSS also passed legislation to move $500 from the GSS contingency account into its general operating account. Robert Gropp, GSS chairman, said GSS needed the additional funds to pay for unexpected expenses.
The GSS ways and means committee is reviewing travel and research grants, and they should be before GSS at the next meeting.
