Webster Avenue to close Thursday

Webster Avenue between Commanche Street and Main Street will be closed to all traffic at 9 a.m. Thursday.

The road will remain closed for approximately five hours while contractors perform maintenance on the Southwestern Bell Telephone Building, 101 S. Webster Ave.

Lindsey and Jenkins ready to close

If the weather holds, the intersection of Lindsey Street and Jenkins Avenue will close Thursday morning at 8.

The closure will allow improvements to be made to the intersection, including the addition of left turn lanes and improved traffic signals.

Similar work was recently completed at the intersection of Jenkins and Boyd Street.

As with other long-term construction projects in Norman, including Lindsey Street east of the intersection, completion is expected before the first home football game on September 9. Detours for through traffic will be routed to Boyd Street via Classen Boulevard and Chautauqua Avenue.

Sewer work closes intersection

Continuing work on a sanitary sewer has temporarily closed the intersection of Charles Street and Woods Avenue.

The intersection, in the neighborhood near Berry Road and Robinson Avenue, closed Tuesday and is expected to reopen Thursday.
